This is our Old Fashioned recipe - by no means the only one, or the best one, just the one we like to drink 🧡 We use whatever bourbon, rye, or whiskey we have around, because if they’re in our home 🏡 chances are we like to drink it. We use orange bitters, instead of angostura, for an extra citrus punch, and brown sugar cubes, instead of white, for a deeper sweet flavor. We use a splash of soda water to help dilute the sugar. And lastly, we also like to include Luxardo cherries because they’re delicious and colorful 🍒 Recipe at the bottom 👇🏻
Ingredients
2 oz rye, whiskey, or bourbon (we used High West Campfire Whiskey here)
1 brown sugar cube
1 full piper of orange bitters (we used Woodford Reserve orange bitters here)
Soda water
Big ol’ ice cube
Instructions
Put sugar cube, bitters, and soda water in the bottom of the glass you are going to serve the drink in.
Muddle until sugar is dissolved to your liking (I like some texture so I leave some little bits)
Add the alcohol and the ice cube and stir for 30 seconds (or until the drink is properly chilled)
Peel an orange, and then pinch the peel in on itself to spritz the glass with some orange fairy dust ✨
Add a cherry 🍒 (or don’t!)
Enjoy 🥃
